Ad Alessandria FASoLi prova il suo primo Linux Day!

Sono stato molto contento questo pomeriggio di conoscere dal vivo ad Alessandria gli amici di FASoLi (tutti rigorosamente debianisti!), alle prese con il loro primo Linux Day!
Non è andato tutto come previsto, non sono stati tenuti talk per via della mancanza di pubblico, ma visto che sono un gruppo nuovo, che sono in tre e indaffarati, e che a poche centinaia di metri (ma in una zona con maggiore visibiltà) c'era il Linux Day di ALLUG, peraltro meglio pubblicizzato, non credo siano rimasti realmente delusi. I "fruitori" dell'evento sono stati forse quattro (secondo la questura soltanto uno... :-D ) ma realmente interessati, per questa volta sono stati di più gli amici richiamati dall'iniziativa, il che lascia ben sperare per il futuro!
Forse FASoLi non organizzerà mai un classico Linux Day, con grande installation party e tanti seminari di introduzione all'uso di diversi software in ambiente GNU/Linux. Nel promuovere il software libero - ne convengo con Davide Truffa - mostrare «che cos'è Linux» non è più la cosa più importante. Occorre valorizzare il software libero e le comunità che vi fanno riferimento dando importanza a quegli stessi motivi per cui ne si sostiene la causa, occorre cercare un reale coinvolgimento delle persone che si intende e si riesce a raggiungere. Non credo che il concetto di user group come gruppo di aiuto sia da scartare, ma è opportuno saper distinguere tra il semplice aiutare le persone con GNU/Linux e affini e il coinvolgerle nel vero spirito che anima la comunità.
Non ho mai partecipato attivamente (e quasi nemmeno come spettatore) ad un Linux Day, ma per quanto sono abituato a leggere nelle mailing list tecniche e di discussione ho l'impressione che FASoLi stia cogliendo e condividendo le questioni più importanti che riguardano l'informatica (libera) e che ci siano i requisiti perché possa riuscire a dare loro un ruolo tangibile anche fuori dagli hacklab, nella vita di persone che non si metteranno mai a scrivere un driver per la loro scheda di rete.
