Damn Italian software!

December 19th, 2007

Hi English Debian-Community Planet! :-)

A few days ago I've created a new page on the Debian wiki for collecting a list of (free) software which interfaces, documentation or websites are not fully available in English as they are in Italian, by section.

This has several purposes:

  • making more people aware about interesting software;
  • helping to package ‘non-internationalized’ software;
  • making some software more useful outside Italy and/or for non-Italian speakers.
  • (perhaps) contributing to create a repository for truly Italy-specific packages, which won't be internationalized, and so on...
  • etc.

It is really simple to edit the wiki page; if you know free software (but important non-free software is OK, too) like that please add it, creating new sections when necessary. If you can provide an English long description, please put it into http://wiki.debian.org/PkgItalianOnly/$SOFTWARE_NAME. And of course, if you need help or even some translation, you can simply mail me.

P.S.: Do you know about any similar initiative for other languages/countries?
